OFF SEASON TO PRE SEASON TRAINING PROGRAMME
Pre season can be a gruelling and physically/mentally tough period for any footballer. Clocking up the miles with long distance runs, shuttle runs and ladder work are all part of a traditional England off season/pre season schedule.
But are these beneficial to football and do they mirror the demands of the sport?
Peak Performance’s training programme offers a unique approach to training with sessions focused on improving the players mobility, flexibility and fluidity; all in a football specific way.
Football is a random and react sport; whereby footballers constantly have to react to the movement of the ball and/or their opponent. It is played at both high/low intensities with random periods of work to rest ratios. That is why it’s vitally important to train that way in order to cope with the constant demands that are placed upon you in game situations.
These unique training sessions are based on the Portuguese and South American philosophies. With their style of training very much around improving the footballers performance using physical and technical training methods that are based around fluid movement and the ability to be in total control of your body.
“For me the off/pre season is a chance for footballers to get in the best condition possible ready to head into the new season. It’s about training smart and training to the demands of the sport. Traditionally in England players/teams will always complete a series of long distance runs to improve stamina and endurance however; football is never player at one pace, nor do you run continually in the same direction for a long period of time. The training programme I have designed will educate you around how to train specifically for the demands of a football game in order to take your performance as a footballer to the next level”
